The Central Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy has confirmed the arrest of eleven sailors aboard a vessel and tugboat with an estimated 6,000 tons of stolen crude oil along the waterways in Bayelsa State.
The sailors were aboard a vessel registered as MT DERA and a tugboat RUNNER CHARLEY.
The Nigerian Navy, according to the statement issued by Lieutenant Commander Eddie Yeibo, detained the vessel and tugboat along the Eremor 1 Marginal Oil Field located off Peretorugbene in Ekeremor Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa State.
Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman, speaking about their find, noted that
the Command has made several successful raids on illegal refinery sites in the fight against crude oil theft barely two weeks into his assumption of office.
He attributed the feat to the zero tolerance stance on crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering, and other sundry crimes by Central Naval Command in its Area of Responsibility.
He assured that the Navy would continue to make the illegal business of crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other sundry crimes unattractive for criminals. He further warned that oil thieves should desist from all forms of illegal activity and become involved in meaningful and legitimate businesses.

Photos: After 22yrs in US prison, Yakubu Gowon's son, Musa granted clemency by Obama

Former Nigerian President, General Yakabu Gowon and late Edith Ike Okongwu are the parents of Musa Jack Ngonadi Gowon, who was recently released from a prison in California after serving 22 years there. Young Musa had relocated to the US with his mum where he lived until his arrest in 1992.

Left photo: This was the month he was arrested. ..he was 23 and right photo: This is in prison. ..he actually graduated with a degree in law while in prison..that's his half brother Richard.  Read the full story of his travail and released after the cut...

This was written by Barrister Chukwudi Iwuchukwu,
On November 18, 1992, agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Customs Service arrested Musa, Jack Spencer, for conspiring to import in excess of one kilogram of heroin. Jack Musa Gowon, who was 23 years old at that time was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the allegation of smuggling  heroin from source countries.

Jack Musa Gowon protested vehemently through his legal team  that he was innocent and was framed up and his protest were ignored by the Jury and was harshly  sentenced to 324 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

Musa timely appealed, challenging the admission into evidence of the Hotel Guide, the sufficiency of the evidence supporting his conviction, and the district court's upward adjustment of his base offense level on the basis that he was an organizer or leader in the conspiracy
When the appeal to quash his conviction failed, Musa took that decision  in his stride believing set back like this is not end of his life
As an inmate of Taft Correctional Facility, Musa Jack Gowon was a role model and a legal adviser to all the inmates
He was well behaved and a source of inspiration  to co- inmates  who have  given up on life
The prison warden  loved and worshiped the ground he tread on

Permit me to mention that Musa  enrolled in one of the universities around and successfully graduated with a degree in Law as a prison inmate

This commendable act of Leadership did not go unnoticed and he was rewarded severally by prison authorities
While all these were going on, Musa's  family has never stopped fighting to get him out of prison and calls for his release began to grow louder
Happy to report that President Obama heard the calls for Musa's release and acted in that regard by granting him a parole

Musa walked out of Taft Correctional Facility Bakersfield California as a free man on November 2nd  and he is currently at  ICE Detention Center Bakersfield CA where he will be deported back to Nigeria any moment from now
Musa Jack Ngonaadi is grateful to his Dad, General Yakubu Gowon, his friends and his relatives from his maternal side who  stood by him and supported him also all through the period of his unjust  incarceration that he did not commit the crime he was wrongly accused of
Musa will narrate his own side of the story very soon and he is grateful to God who kept him alive and well to see this day

Man arraigned in SA court after 21 pieces of mutilated vaginas were found in his freezer

63 year old Danish man, Peter Frederiksen, who was allegedly found with 21 pieces of female genitalia appeared before a South African court today November 4th. Frederiksen was arrested back in September after the mutilated vaginas were allegedly found in his home. Surgical equipment and anaesthetic drugs were also said to have been found in the property.

According to reports, It’s believed his wife, 28-year-old Anna Matseliso Molise, told police he drugged her and cut off private parts of her anatomy while she was incapacitated. She was due to testify but was gunned down and killed while leaving her house last month. Police believe most of the victims are from the Lesotho area. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that Frederiksen, said to own a gun shop, sedates his victims before performing the illegal operations.

It is not clear if the severed vaginas were removed when the women were alive – or indeed if they would have survived the attacks. Masilea Langa, a South African police spokeswoman, said that Frederiksen had kept a clear and organised record of every body part he had removed since his first victim in 2010. He faces charges of sexual assault, intimidation and breaking South Africa’s medical laws.

Saraki files appeal at the Supreme Court

Senate President Bukola Saraki has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court against the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which affirmed the jurisdiction of Code of Conduct Tribunal ( CCT ) to try him on 13 count charge of false assets declaration while he was governor of Kwara state.

The Court of Appeal on October 30th in its ruling stated that the CCT had the constitutional authority to try the senate president.

In the appeal filed by his lead counsel, Joseph Daudu (SAN) before the Supreme Court today, Saraki raised seven grounds of appeal in his notice in which he is asking the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal, the entire proceedings of the CCT and the charges preferred against him before the tribunal.

The appeal and application for stay of proceedings filed by Saraki may not affect proceedings before the CCT tomorrow as the Supreme Court will most likely not sit before then to consider any of the documents he has just filed.
